TRAINING, EXCHANGES & NETWORKING ACTIVITIES
NeuroStemcell recognizes the essential requirement to include a coherent program of both internal and open activities to promote training and networking within the consortium while maximizing synergy and interaction, and to develop the level of exchange, understanding and awareness necessary to create a critical mass of trained researchers and clinical scientists across Europe able to help the assessment of the clinical value of selected stem cell products. A limited number of activities will also be directed toward the public to promote the level of understanding for informed decisions and to present the possibilities and problems that surround stem cell therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.
NeuroStemcell Traning & Outreach programme includes:
WORKGROUPS
will be organized in the context of clinical application of stem cell lines in patients with PD and HD to provide the level of internal discussion necessary to advance in the major areas of NeuroStemcell.
ANNUAL PROJECT MEETINGS
Four meetings of the whole consortium will be organized during the course of the project. The annual consortium meeting will involve full participation of postgraduate and postdoctoral scientists.
NeuroStemcell WorkINg GroupS (WINGS)
Over the whole duration of NeuroStemcell project, 4 WINGS group will be formed. The main goals of these groups will be to increase the interaction between different partners and transfer knowledge and key technologies within the network, acting as a resource for a specific topic for all members of NeuroStemcell. The groups are addressed to scientists (students, post-docs or senior scientists) who have a relevant experience on the matter and are/will be working full time on the topic under NeuroStemcell funding.
MOBILITY PROGRAM
Funding for short term exchange visits for post-graduate students, postdoctoral scientists and senior technical staff, to facilitate transfer of key technologies and data comparison.
TRAINING & CLINICAL WORKSHOPS
These 2-3 days workshops are an essential component of the NeuroStemcell programme. The workshops will be open primarily to members of the NeuroStemcell network, but depending on topic we will also reserve a number of slots for external participants.
EUROPEAN SUMMER SCHOOL IN STEM CELL BIOLOGY
provides intensive theoretical training in key issues in fundamental stem cell biology during 6-7 days of course. It will take place in Hydra and is organised by EuroSyStem in collaboration with NeuroStemcell and Optistem Consortia. The summer school is open to all postgraduate research students, postdoctoral researchers, senior researchers, clinical training fellows and technicians from universities, research institutes and industry, working in stem cell biology or related fields.
OTHER OUTREACH ACTIVITIES
will aim at collaborating with existing consortia in increasing public awareness on this specific sector of biomedicine. NeuroStemcell will contribute to target patient groups, regulators and legislators through the provision of regulatory, ethical and clinical measures that will emerge during the project.
